Nikias Chryssos’ Tower Block! The Whole Damn Thing!

0TOWER_BLOCK
Found this amazing short film thanks to the good folks over at Twitch. It clocks in at just under 40 minutes but it’s really worth the watch. Check out the synopsis and trailer below.

Daniel and his older brother Patrick live together in a tower block. Patrick forces Daniel to go around collecting money and plays sadistic games with him. Daniel escapes into fantasy worlds. As he suffers more and more from his brother’s tyranny, he believes to have found a friend in Bernd, a heroin junkie from the area.

Watch The Trailer For World’s Greatest Dad Or Bobcat Goldthwait Will Punch You In The Face

worlds_greatest_dad_movie_image_robin_williams__1_
Okay Bobcat probably won’t come to your house and punch you in the face, but I might if you don’t see this movie. Robin Williams is at his best in dark comedy. I’m not talking about the mangled mess that was Death to Smoochy. Think more along the lines of The World According to Garp, but darker. Bobcat Goldthwait directs this tale of a high school english teacher who fakes his son’s suicide note after an embarrassing accidental death. When the note becomes and unexpected hit he uses the opportunity to realize his dream of becoming a successful author. I love Goldthwait’s Shakes the Clown. Fuckin’ Mimes! So I’m 100% in on this one. World’s Greatest Dad releases August 21st to select cities.

Teaser for the UK Horror/Drama Tony

tony-poster
Tony is a loner with an unhealthy obsession for action films, but that doesn’t stop him trying to make friends – with, for instance, the drug dealers who hang out near his home, and the ladies who advertise their services in call boxes. Neighbors, TV license inspectors, gay cruisers and junkies are all welcome at Tony’s flat… as long as they behave themselves. But when a local child goes missing, his odd lifestyle begins to attract attention – and his secrets must surely be exposed.

That’s the synopsis for writer/director Gerald Johnson’s debut Tony. The teaser trailer does exactly what it should. It sets the tone for what will likely be one bleak brutal film experience. At least that’s what I’m hoping for. Check it out below.

In-The-Loop-005

Thanks to the amazing Funny or Die we’ve got the trailer for the Armando Iannucci lensed
comedy In the Loop. In the Loop received a bit of positive buzz after premiering at Sundance
this year. The cast includes James Gandolfini, David Rasche, Anna Chlumsky, Peter Capaldi,
Chris Addison and Paul Higgins.I’m really glad David Rasche is getting a bit more screen time
these days. Thanks to IFC we’ll be able to see it in theaters and on demand starting July 24th.
As per usual check out the trailer below and leave me some damn feedback.

Trailer For Low Budget Cyber Punk Actioner Offline!

If Tetsuo: Iron Man, Blade Runner, and Mad Max had a three way love affair, Offline would be their bastard love child. Director Matthew Santoro, a visual effects artist on AVP:Requiem and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, seems to have made one hell of a cyber punk ride. Though it’s a bit overlong for a trailer I’ll let it slide because it’s amazing. Actually if there is such thing as an ocular orgasm, this is it.

Trailer For Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl

1e9d71caDirector Yoshihiro Nishimura’s Tokyo Gore Police was probably unwatchable for most of you. I, however bad the film really was, found some entertainment value in it’s ridiculously long blood squirting sequences and general insanity. With that disclaimer out of the way I give you the trailer for his latest gorefest, Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl. While it’s not exactly NSFW it will certainly get you some strange looks from your coworkers if they happen to catch a glimpse. Enjoy.

Trailer For The Very Disturbing Grace

graceb
Imagine someone decided to remake Little Shop of Horrors. Now imagine Audrey II has been replaced with a newborn baby and the Seymour character is now the mother of said newborn. Pretty fucked up idea, right? Well that’s what Writer/Director Paul Solet has done, and if the hype from Sundance and the amazing NSFW red band trailer below are any indication he’s made on hell of a frightening flick. Check out the NSFW trailer below. Thanks to Twitch for this nugget.

* Grace is still making the festival rounds with no current release date set.

Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist Will Be Released In The U.S.!

antichrist-poster
Since it’s Monday premiere at Cannes Von Trier’s Antichrist has been the talk of the festival. With all the controversy surrounding the project it was unclear if a North American distributor would step up to the plate, thankfully IFC had the testicular fortitude to do exactly that. Von Trier paints a grim and gory tale of a couple who retreats to a cabin deep in the woods to recover from the death of their son when things go horribly wrong. IFC hasn’t set a release date yet, but I’m sure it will be available on-demand as well. I’ll keep you posted.

* At the press conference for the film Von Trier declared himself “The World’s Greatest Director”. He then pulled out a copy of Citizen Kane and proceeded to urinate on it screaming “Fuck you Rosebud, Fuck You Welles” Alright well the second part didn’t happen, but it should have.
