Action star, and at this point I use the term “star” very loosely, Steven Seagal will not be making an appearance in Sylvester Stallone’s testosteronefest The Expendables after all. Though Seagal and producer Avi Lerner have worked together on a number of films a reliable source tells Moviehole that “there is just too much bad blood between them”. It’s kind of a shame that they couldn’t bring Seagal back to the big screen. On the other hand it’s now rumored that Bruce Willis is in talks to replace him. I suddenly feel a little better. Besides in a streetfight John McClane would totally kick Casey Ryback’s ass. Can someone please throw Van Damme a cameo. Did anyone see JCVD? He deserves it.

That’s right DC Comic geeks the superhero that most of us could care less about has just set up a 150 million dollar production deal in Sydney, Austrailia. Martin Campbell (Beyond Borders, Casino Royale) will direct with Chris Pine (Star Trek, Smokin’ Aces) rumored to star in the titular role. I can think of at least 10 other DC comics I’d rather see turned into films before this. Does anyone else think this joke will have a hard time making back it’s budget?

Alexader Payne’s Next Film, Downsizing

Alexander Payne is putting the final touches on his script Downsizing, a social satire about miniature people, and has already put together one hell of a cast. Paul Giamatti, Sacha Baron Cohen and Reese Witherspoon have all committed to the film, which would likely go to Fox Searchlight, where Payne has a first-look deal. This marks Payne’s first film since 2004′s Sideways. Giamatti, who starred in Payne’s Sideways, has committed to star as a man low on money who decides he can have a much nicer life if he undergoes a process to shrink himself. Witherspoon, who was absolutely spot on in Payne’s Election, would play a woman Giamatti meets on his journey as a miniature person. Baron Cohen will play a miniature foreigner. No deals are in place, but I’m sure it won’t be long. As far as I’m concerned Payne has yet to make a bad film, and with these three attached I’m pretty psyched. What say you?
*Of course I posted a pic of Reese Witherspoon. She’s much hotter than Giamatti or Cohen.

The Expendables Gets More Awesomeful!

It seems with every passing day Stallone is adding more awesomeness to the cast of The Expendables. If you’re keeping track, here’s the cast so far Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Forest Whitaker, and Eric Roberts. Well you can now add two more to that list, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Trejo. This movie is one Jean Claude Van Damme away from being an Action film fanboy’s wet dream! That’s right Stallone, get on it. There is no reason that Van Damme shouldn’t be invited to this party. Is anyone else as geeked up about this movie as I am right now?!
