Lars Von Trier founder of the Dogme 95 movement has seemingly left that style of filmmaking behind to bring us what seems to be his first foray into true Horror with Antichrist. Trier previously made Epidemic and Kingdom (aka Riget) which, while billed as Horror, were more dramatic pieces. Antichrist may turn out the same way but if the trailer is any indication it seems to share more in common with Lynch or Fessenden than anything I’ve seen from Trier before. The story revolves around a grieving couple who take some time away to their cabin in the woods to mend their troubled relationship but when nature takes it’s course and things go from bad to worse.
