Trailer For Ti West’s Latest Horror House Of The Devil

I thoroughly enjoyed both of West’s previous films The Roost and Trigger Man. After watching the trailer for House of the Devil, I may commit to being a Ti West fan. House, set in the 80′s, is the story of a young college student who takes and odd babysitting job only to find out that her clients plan to use her in a satanic ritual. The film stars Tom Noonan (Manhunter), Jocelin Donahue (The Burrowers), AJ Bowen (The Signal), Mary Woronov (Eating Raoul), and Greta Gerwig (Baghead). Check out the trailer for the West’s latest creepfest below and let me know what you think.

*West’s Cabin Fever sequel was shot nearly 2 years ago and is still awaiting release, anyone else think it’s time they just shoved it direct to video?

Green Lantern Gets The Green Light. File Under: I Could Give A Shit Less

green_lantern
That’s right DC Comic geeks the superhero that most of us could care less about has just set up a 150 million dollar production deal in Sydney, Austrailia. Martin Campbell (Beyond Borders, Casino Royale) will direct with Chris Pine (Star Trek, Smokin’ Aces) rumored to star in the titular role. I can think of at least 10 other DC comics I’d rather see turned into films before this. Does anyone else think this joke will have a hard time making back it’s budget?

Thanks to Mel for pointing me in the direction of the amazing “Training Video”. If you can’t handle gore don’t watch this, but if you can it’s a damn riot.

Lars Von Trier’s Horror Film Antichrist: NSFW

antichrist
Lars Von Trier founder of the Dogme 95 movement has seemingly left that style of filmmaking behind to bring us what seems to be his first foray into true Horror with Antichrist. Trier previously made Epidemic and Kingdom (aka Riget) which, while billed as Horror, were more dramatic pieces. Antichrist may turn out the same way but if the trailer is any indication it seems to share more in common with Lynch or Fessenden than anything I’ve seen from Trier before. The story revolves around a grieving couple who take some time away to their cabin in the woods to mend their troubled relationship but when nature takes it’s course and things go from bad to worse. Thanks to Joblo/Arrow for the trailer which you should view below.

Trailer For Johnnie To’s Latest: Vengeance NSFW

vengeance_johnnie_to_5
I’ve only ever seen two Johnnie To films Mad Detective (which I loved) and Fulltime Killer (which I despised). I’ll be probably get my film geek cred yanked for not seeing his Election or Breaking News, but you know what I really hated Fulltime Killer, enough to not want to watch another To film. At least until I saw the trailer for his latest action/drama Vengeance. Vengeance is the story of a French assassin turned Chef (Johnny Hallyday) who travels Hong Kong to avenge a murder. Check out the very violent NSFW trailer below. You can’t deny the asskickingness of this trailer. Let’s hope the movie is as good.

Trailer Fro Nicolas Winding Refn’s Valhalla Rising

valhallarising
Denmark’s Nicolas Winding Refn might be one of the best filmmakers around right now. If you haven’t seen his Pusher trilogy put it on your Netflix queue. The trailer for Refn’s newest film, the Viking drama Valhalla Rising, is nothing short of awesome. Below is the synopsis and trailer for the film courtesy of Twitch.

For years, One-Eye, a mute warrior of supernatural strength, has been held prisoner by the chieftain Barde. Aided by a boy, Are, he kills his captor and together they escape, beginning a journey into the heart of darkness. On their flight from bounty hunters, One-Eye and Are board a Viking vessel, but the ship is soon engulfed by an endless fog that first disintegrates as they sight an unknown land. As the new land reveals its secrets and the Vikings meet a ghastly fate, One-Eye discovers his true self.

Trailer For Sacha Baron Cohen’s NC-17 Comedy Bruno

bruno1
I’m not sure this will be nearly as shocking or funny after Borat, but I’m willing to give it a chance. Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno will release June 17th, and will likely be smacked with an NC-17 rating. Check out the trailer below courtesy of Trailer Addict.

Sony Confirms A Slew Of Sequels

ghostbusters
During their presentation at ShoWest Sony president Rory Bruer anounced that for their 2010 and 2011 lineup that sequels for Men in Black, Ghosbusters, and Spiderman were among the projects being developed. To be quite honest I could care less about Men in Black and I’m lukewarm on Spiderman after the debacle that was Spidey 3, but I’m retarded excited for a new Ghostbusters movie. Harold Ramis confirmed earlier in the week that a script was being worked on for the GB sequel, and that the original cast was interested in being involved. Now we have Sony’s confirmation that it’s on the slate for 2010-11. I’m a happy fanboy.

Trailer For Todd Phillips Newest Comedy The Hangover

the-hangover-01
I thoroughly enjoyed both Old School and Road Trip. As uneven as they may be they’re both very funny films. Since 2003′s Old School, however, Todd Phillips seems to have been in a bit of a slump. Both Starsky and Hutch as well as School for Scoundrels were lukewarmly received. If the trailer for The Hangover is any indication it would seem that Mr. Phillips is back. The film, starring Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Jeffery Tambor, and Justin Bartha releases June 5th. Enjoy the trailer below.

* Zach Galifiankis might be one of the funniest guys on the planet. If you haven’t seen his stand up seek it out!
