Nightmare on Elm Street Reboot Gets a Director

Among the many reboots, remakes, and re-imaginings that Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes have kicking around Nightmare on Elm Street seems to be the leader of the pack. Music video director Samuel Bayer has been brought in to restart the franchise. Bayer has been kicking around the music video scene since 1991 with Nirvana’s Smell’s Like Teen Spirit. I can’t imagine this remake is going to be any good. I’ll admit that PD’s remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not it’s remake sequel) wasn’t awful. It didn’t live up to the original, but I found something about it enjoyable. But do we have to keep taking classic horror franchises and raping them? This is just further proof the Michael Bay is the king of suck. Below, if you care to, you can see two of Bayer’s music videos. The first of which is the incredibly talented Afghan Whig’s Honky’s Ladder. At least the music is good :)

* Bayer has also directed videos for Green Day, Marilyn Manson, and John Lee Hooker.

Is this a really bad joke? It wasn’t enough for him to destroy the Transformers and Jason Vorhees now Bay has to ruin Freddy too! This should be against the law. The same director should not be allowed to do Freddy and Jason, its one or the other. GAAAAAAAAH!

People need to start coming up with new ideas. These old baddies are getting, well, old.
